We had an amazing lunch at Dat Dog!! Aristotle did a great job at the grill. The chicken sandwiches and tater tots were awesome! Service was outstanding and very personable! We will definitely be back! Great job!

If you are a vegetarian in New Orleans, this should probably be up high on your list of places to try. If you're like me then you probably aren't used to having so many options at a restaurant or the vegetarian version not being equitable to the omni one. However, Dat Dog is incredible! You have options of three vegetarian sausages and countless combinations of toppings for both the dogs and the fries. I've never had a bad experience with Dat Dog and the staff at Freret are definitely the friendliest of all locations! This place is very casual so coming with friends is a must.

I'm lucky enough to live a few streets down from here. It's a great place to hang out with friends, especially in October when the weather is good. This is one of the best patio hangout places. It reminds me of South Main in Fort Worth. I get Jimmy's Chicago Dog because it is the best Dog, hands down. However, nothing beats the $5 Coney Island dog for Happy Hour.

Finally was able to get into Dat Dog after attempting to make it happen for the last two trips down to New Orleans. I basically built my page early on just doing hot dog reviews so this one made too much sense to check out. I decided to check out the Rougarou and Chas got the Bacon Werewolf. We also each grabbed a frozen berry type margarita. The girl at the counter was friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the open seating arrangement with coverage but the no walls to allow for airflow. Decorations were bright and fun and they were playing music like Alkaline Trio and other bands like that which I love, so that was a bonus as well. The Frozen margarita beverage was delicious but I don't think I could handle the sweetness of more than one of them. Good berry flavor and you could definitely still tell there was the lime flavor of a margarita to this as well. The flavor of tequila was masked by the sweetness, which I actually didn't love but I'm sure most people would. I love tequila and like to taste it in my drinks. The Rougarou is an Alligator sausage with grilled onion, Bacon, tomato, Jalapeno, Creole mustard, and BBQ sauce. There was a tiny bit of spiciness from the jalapeno and I'm guessing the sausage had a little spice to it as well. Nothing overbearing at all, just stating it for people who don't like ANY spice. This felt like it may have ended up being too much going on at once to enjoy it, but it was quite good. The flavors played off each other well and I enjoyed this a lot. I can't really speak to the Bacon Werewolf but I did try the bratwurst from it by itself and it had good flavor. I would love to come back and try some more of the signature dogs and maybe build one of my own. Dat Dog in New Orleans, LA - Didn't Suck! We had lunch here and it was great spot. I had the burger dog with chili, onions, peppers, and slaw. Very good. There is a very cool area and bar to sit at inside and also a great patio area. It was a quick counter service restaurant. Definitely a good spot if you're craving a hot dog.

DL;DR: Chill staff, good eats, and fun environment makes this a must visit for visitors and residents alike. $10 for a dog + whatever for fries and a drink might make you second guess, but do it at least once. You're welcome. You found my favorite to go to and most frequented. Congrats. It's a bit more quiet here and the neighborhood ambiance is nice. Grab a dog and meet me here. I'll pet it and it will have a spot for water. I am a repeat offender at Dat Dog and have found that it is a visitor (tourist) hit when family and friends come in. You might find price tag shock when you arrive, at about 9-10ish dollars for a single dog, but 1 generally fills you up when done right. The topics are all you can get so make a list and check it twice before hitting the POS. Shoot, it might help to have a note pad on the way to the register. The fries are tasty enough to get again (I like crispy on the outside). The people are 95% of the time super chill and willing to work with you (like Hawaiian-shirt wearers would be, and they will likely be wearing one for outfit). The wall-art is semi-adult humor and mostly geeky (think Star Wars Geek). There are always bars and hand-made mocktails available. Expect the bread to be buttery-crisp and relatively sweet (like Hawaiian sweet roll sweet). There is almost always outside seating (on Frenchman, only a balcony), and the aesthetic keeps you looking around (again, expect some meat-related light adult humor).

Came here to New Orleans to visit my friend and he took me here. OMG it did not disappoint. We came to this location of Dat Dog since it was pouring and this location has the most indoor/covered seating. The entire restaurant is super cute and colorful and there's hot dog themed decorations everywhere. You order at the counter and soon after, you're greeted with your gourmet hot dog at your table. I got the Rougaroo, which my friend had tried before and recommended. It was AMAZING, the alligator sausage had the snap that you need when you bite into a hot dog and the toppings made it that much better. He got the Irish Channel dog and he said it was really good. We also got the Fries WTF, which are kinda like nachos if you replaced the chips with fries. It sounds weird to put guac and sour cream on fries but they were amazing, a must-try. Dat Dog is so good, we joked about coming back here the next day for dinner. Well, my friend was joking but I was entirely serious. This place is amazing!

Dat Dog is one of my fav spots to visit in New Orleans. They have 3 locations (Magazine, Frenchman, and Freret) and the Magazine st. location is my favorite. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is cooked to order and fresh. During football season this place is normally packed with folks watching the game(s) and having a good time. I highly recommend a build-your-own dog with whatever you like on it and a side of cheddar-bacon-ranch tots (or fries, whichever your like). The cheddar-bacon-ranch tots (or fries) can be a little dry in the middle so, pro tip, when you order ask them to layer the ranch. That'll solve that problem! Enjoy your dog! Oh, and they are super pet friendly if you stop in while walking your dog!
